THE DOS AND DON'TS IN PARIS

Paris, France

Do try to speak French until someone switches to English. It’s always appreciated, usually considered cute, and most importantly a sign of respect for the culture.

Don’t insist on continuing in French once it becomes apparent the person clearly speaks your language way better than you speak theirs. It will seem rude.

Do respect sacred mealtime traditions. In Paris, meals are about stopping, sitting down and enjoying the ritual of eating, usually while having a conversation. So do enjoy your food while having a little bit of a chit chat.

Don’t try to sit at any café, with your laptop open during lunch hour. This is massively frowned upon as all tables (including yours) are designated for people who are actually eating between 12:30 and 2:30. If you need to keep working, at least order something to ward off waiters. Be considerate and give your seat to those who are really in a rush.

Don’t get flustered if a stranger bold-face stares at you in the street, particularly woman to woman. The longer she stares you down the better, as this is almost definitely a sign that she’s into your look. In Paris, fashion is serious and merits serious investigation. Be proud, be nice and return them a polite smile.

Do shop like a Parisian. A few posh essentials from Merci and APC will create the perfect base. Then fill in the gaps with the world’s greatest vintage offerings from Thanx God I’m a VIP, Killiwatch, and the Marais’ various Free’p’Star stores.

Do take a walk. Trust me, Paris is a walkable city and it’s often the least annoying way to get around. As you’ve probably read, walking everywhere is a key reason French women are slim. You’re already there, go explore! You can rest all you want when you’re back at home.

Do get your detox necessities at Juice IT or Good Organic Only. It’s not a mirage: Paris’ budding health-food scene now includes trendy, wifi-having spots where smoothies, cold-pressed juice and organic salads.

Don’t expect to leave satisfied from any of the above locations without forking over at least €20. This is Paris. The democratization of health food has yet to come.

Do visit the ultimate French pharmacy, CityPharma, in Saint Germain where Rue Bonaparte meets Rue du Four. Brace yourself for crowds at almost any time of day.

Paris, Paris, Paris... Despite visiting the city twice before it was so refreshing to back in the winter with Evangeline and friends. As always, Evangeline is my travel companion. Nothing beats a day of sister bonding over shopping and eating plenty of french cuisines in between.

Sometimes, you just need a break, alone, in a beautiful place to figure everything out.

VERSATILE BOMBER JACKET

As many of you know, I'm all about my versatile bomber jacket. I found this Boris Bidjan Saberi bomber jacket at Danchu Store in Taiwan when I had plenty of time between meetings. I am very glad I hunted this down because it's become my favorite now. The bomber jacket is a classic staple and truly is one of the most versatile pieces you can have in your wardrobe arsenal. The bomber jacket, in my eyes, is well worth the investment, and I think I can't see it going anywhere for a long time.

PARIS TRAVEL DIARY

Always dreamt of visiting Paris and my dream is finally came true! Paris treated us incredibly well. It's a city that I love so much. I want to say that Paris is a beautiful city full of life. I kept back feeling inspired by the long walks, the ornate buildings, the cute cafes everywhere, modern art museum and all the amazing views. We went to Eiffel Tower for having some wine and the place got very nice ambiance, even though the weather is cold. On my second day, we went to Montmarte have a cup of coffee and I was so blown away by the spectacular view of the Montmartre hill, it felt surreal. Of course, we did went to the Louvre and having breakfast at the roof top with the whole Paris views and we went to Ladurée cafe having a parisian afternoon tea. I won't write too much so that you can just enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed being there!

Paris has been and always will be one of my favorite travel destinations.
This Europe trip would not have been possible without my best friend Laine.
